Policy, Scheme & Annual Report
Equality & Diversity Policy
Our Equality & Diversity Policy sets out Weston College’s commitment to equality and everyone’s rights and responsibilities with regard to equality. It also explains what the key terms mean, such as ‘discrimination’, and tells you how to report any incidents of harassment, discrimination or bullying.
Equality Scheme
The purpose of the Equality Scheme is to set out our work to promote equality in relation to the characteristics of age; caring and dependency responsibilities; disability, gender identity; pregnancy, adoption, maternity and paternity; marriage and civil partnership status, sex, race, religion or belief and sexual orientation.
There is no legal requirement to produce an equality scheme but we believe it to be a useful tool for presenting our equality information and communicating with stakeholders.
The scheme is structured in five sections:
Section 1, Our equality aspirations, contains the vision and aims of our scheme and our equality strategy. These are linked to our statutory duties and the College’s strategic objectives.
Section 2, Where we are now, contains a summary of the progress we have made and how we already embed and promote equality in all our college functions, activities, policies and practices.
Section 3, Moving forward, sets out our Equality Objectives, which detail how we will to achieve our plans for ongoing improvements.
Section 4, Monitoring, review and evaluation, contains information on responsibility for reviewing this scheme, how we developed the scheme and our equality and diversity structures.
Section 5, Annexes, contains a summary of our legal requirements for equality and diversity and provides links to related equality documents.
Weston College’s Equality Scheme is a living document. It is open to feedback from interested parties and will be regularly updated. If you have any feedback or questions about the Scheme, please contact Siobhan O’Malley,
