Welfare and study support

At Weston College we put our students at the heart of everything we do. We provide the support you need to ensure your time spent with us is not only successful, but a pleasant experience.

If you are coming to study at Weston College from overseas our friendly and supportive staff will offer you independent and impartial advice, support and guidance on:

  • Programmes of study
  • Careers guidance
  • University progression
  • Enquiries, applications and enrolments
  • Accommodation
  • Student finances
  • Airport transfers
  • Visa documentation and renewal
  • Health and welfare
  • Social activities.

Personal tutor

In addition, all full-time students will have a Personal Tutor who is usually one of their subject teachers. You will have regular timetabled tutorials, sometimes with the rest of your tutor group and sometimes you will meet your tutor individually. During these tutorials you will discuss your progress on your course.

Accommodation

Student Services has a current list of local student accommodation. We also offer pre-arranged temporary accommodation for you during the induction period. This will enable you to settle into your course before committing to longer term accommodation.

Opening a bank account

Some overseas students experience difficulty when trying to open a bank account in the UK due to the type of documentation banks require. You should open an account with a worldwide bank before leaving your home country.

People with disabilities

We welcome applications from all sections of the community and are committed to ensuring everyone is treated fairly.

Reasonable adjustments to provision will be made to ensure people with disabilities are not disadvantaged. A range of support services are available to meet students’ specific needs. All college sites are accessible to people with disabilities.

Equal opportunities

Weston College is proud to attract students from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. We expect anyone entering the College will share our view that all people have a right to an education, which meets their particular needs, in an atmosphere in which individuals are respected. We make every effort, therefore, to ensure no-one is treated unfavourably on grounds of race, gender, age, sexual orientation or disability. We have an Equality and Diversity Policy, monitor our enrolments and have clear rules against any form of discrimination or intimidation.
