The Chief Examiner of a prestigious national awarding body has praised Weston College’s Creative Arts department on its high standards and the ‘outstanding’ work of its students.

Philip Garlick, Chief Examiner and Academic Advisor to the University of the Arts London (UAL) Awarding Body said the achievements were all the more remarkable because this is the first year the College has delivered certain UAL courses.

“The final end of year show contained many outstanding examples of student achievement across all areas of art and design with the fashion and textiles students, in particular, excelling,” said Mr Garlick.

“This was some of the very best fashions and textiles work I have seen this year and I have visited many colleges and seen the work of thousands of students.

“As this is the first year of the College’s delivery of the UAL Awarding Body Foundation Diploma in Art and Design, I congratulate the College on the very high standards achieved.”

Dr Paul Phillips, Principal and Chief Executive of Weston College said: “At Weston College we are establishing a national reputation for delivering the highest standards of teaching in a first class environment.

“We are proud of the achievements of each and every student but to receive such praise from the Chief Examiner of UAL is momentous and we’re all thrilled.”
