Masterchef
Budding young North Somerset chefs who fancy an Apprenticeship in the kitchen are wanted for a Weston College cookery competition this month.
The College is hosting an 'Apprentice Masterchef' event between July 16-27 and would like to hear from Year 11 pupils interested in becoming the next Jamie Oliver.
There are 16 places available in the competition, which involves two weeks of hands-on training, including lessons in food hygiene, making sauces and preparing a variety of dishes.
Additionally, there will be careers advice and employability skills workshops given by College staff, along with chefs and restaurateurs from around the area.
The highlight of the two-week experience is the competition itself, which will see the best young chef walking away with a £50 iTunes voucher. Vouchers of £25 will be given to those coming second and third.
James Wilmot, Apprenticeship Recruitment Coordinator at Weston College, said: “This is a great opportunity for anyone considering an Apprenticeship in hospitality and catering. It’s also a brilliant chance to meet leading local chefs and some of our current Apprentice Chefs already in employment.”
“Employers are contacting us all the time looking for promising candidates. This kind of competition looks great on CVs and will always give you an advantage over other applicants when applying for the best jobs.”
To enter the competition, please email apprenticeships@weston.ac.uk or call (01934) 411594.
