What is the Sports Academy?
The Sports and Public Services Department at Weston College is taking an active approach to engage learners in Sports and Physical activity. The Sports Academy is dedicated to improving not only those who wish to actively participate in physical activity, but also those who wish to experience excellence in coaching, facilities and competition.
The Weston College Sports Academies are open to ALL students of ALL abilities, who are able to attend the training sessions. Wth a wide range of sports on offer, the Sports Academy also forms an integral and compulsory part of every Sports and Public Services academic timetable.
Our partner organisations include:
- Combat Gym
- Weston Football Club
- Weston Rugby Club
- Weston Golf Club
- Hutton Moor Leisure Centre
- Weston Premier Squash and Racketball Club
Each of these organisations play a key role in the delivery of specialist professional coaching, helping make Weston a leading centre for developing sporting skill in students of all abilities.
Why join the Sports Academy?
The Sports Academy provides you with a dynamic and exciting opportunity to develop your sporting skills while you are a student at the College.
All competitive fixtures for the College take place on a Wednesday afternoon. A credit system operates to reward those students who show appropriate commitment to their chosen sport(s) and represent the College. Participation in the Sports Academy could lead to county, regional and even national representation in chosen sports.
