Student unions exist in nearly all colleges and universities in one form or another, and enrolling at Weston College means you automatically become a member of the SU.

Weston College Student Union is one of many affiliated to NUS, you are eligible for an NUS card and all of the benefits that that brings. Just pop into the Student Union office on the Knightstone Campus.

The functions of students' unions are primarily threefold. Firstly, to support and represent members. Secondly, to house union clubs and societies. And thirdly, to provide cheap commercial services to members, of which the proceeds can be put back into support and representation.

Aims of the Student Union

The Executive is responsible for the running of the Student Union and ensuring your voice is heard once you get to the college.

Creating Positive Change
The Executive Team form an influential part of the decision making process at the college and feedback learner opinion to the governing body.

Services and events
Alongside a team of volunteers we provide all kinds of services and events on all campuses, such as freshers' fairs, campaigns, parties and trips.

Raise the profile
Raising the profile of the Student Union will ensure that students benefit 100% from what they are entitled to throughout the year.

Where will I find the Student Union?

The Student Union has two offices - one based at the Knightstone campus and one at the University Campus. Learners can also access relevant information with Student Services at our new South West Skills Campus.  From these offices you can obtain the following information and resources:

  • Student Union and information point
  • NUS Democracy Cards
  • Application for NUS Extra Cards costing £11 or £12 with ISIC (International Student ID)
  • Information on forthcoming events and activities
  • Lost Property
