Student Union
What’s so good about our Student Union?
We’re very proud that we:
- are run by students for students
- are the College’s social hub
- give independent advice
- stand up for your rights
- organise lots of fun activities and events
- give you discounts at many of your favourite stores
- support community charities and organisations.
We try to do something for everyone. The Freshers’ Fair, campaigns and parties are all our handiwork – with the help of some volunteers. We are the people that put on trips for all students at the College. Recently we went to Thorpe Park and now we are planning for our big Freshers’ Party! The Student Union Executive team runs the Students’ Union. The members of the team are voted for by students, and they make sure your voice is heard. We’re at all campuses, with our main office at the Knightstone Campus.
I want to be a member – sign me up now!
If you’re over 16 you’ll automatically become a member of the Student Union when you enrol at college. Once you’re a member you can order a NUS Extra card online or on campus, or get a free NUS Democracy card. The NUS Extra Card costs £11 and it gives you great discounts at your favourite shops, restaurants, cinemas and other places across the UK.
How do I get involved in being part of the Student Union team?
Elections for some positions within the Student Union take place during October. You can decide which positions you want to stand for and then launch a campaign to win votes. Look out for more information about this during your Freshers’ Fair.
