Welfare Support

Pastoral support at Weston College is strong and well-developed and can be accessed by registered students through your personal tutor, the Welfare Officer or any member of the Students' Union.

Welfare offers the opportunity to access information and advice on a wide range of issues which would impact on your studies including course/college concerns, health, accommodation, friendships and finance. The service is available daily, on a drop-in or bookable basis, at both the University and Knightstone Campuses.

When you decide to come to College it's because you want to continue learning and develop your potential to be all that you can be. It's a big step, whether you're coming from school, working towards gaining a degree or studying part-time whilst working.
We realise making the decision to develop yourself involves change; change in lifestyle, change in attitude or a simple change in everyday routine.

At Weston College, we believe change is exciting but we appreciate it can be daunting and sometimes difficult. We strive to provide an environment in which you feel comfortable and thrive in your personal study, but sometimes the problems lie outside College. We want to see you succeed and we will support you through every stage of your time at Weston College.

For any student, not getting on with a friend or family member, wanting to leave home, or being behind with College work can sometimes affect your performance at College. Unexpected problems such as the death of a friend or family member, illness, accidents or pregnancy also affect you and your College work.

Mandy has dealt with a vast range of problems including abuse, pregnancy, stress, depression and self harm, so please feel confident that you can talk to Mandy about anything that's troubling you.

The Student Welfare and Counselling Service at Weston College is available to ALL students.

If you do experience any problems or concerns Mandy will usually be your first port of call. Mandy Lee is the Student Welfare Officer.

She is available every day between 9am and 2.30pm to talk through any College or course concerns. She is based in room G16 on the ground floor of the Knightstone Campus.

She is also available at University Campus (Tuesday and by appointment) and at the Multiskills Centre (Wednesday am).  Mandy has a wealth of experience in all fields, including support and advice on anything from finance, housing to health issues and personal problems.

If you just need someone to talk to, pop in to room G16 at Knightstone Campus or phone Mandy on (01934) 411 476.

If you are based at University Campus, pop in to room C04 and speak to Katie or call 01934 411 623.
