Events and activities

There’s much more to being a student at Weston College than just going to classes. You can get involved with a whole range of activities to help you meet new people, make new friends and learn new skills.

Trips and parties

Every year, the Student Union organises trips - within the UK and abroad - for all students to get involved in.

The Union has recently organised trips to Scarefest at Alton Towers, the Clothes Show Live, Thorpe Park, the pantomime and paintballing.

It also puts on loads of fun events, such as College parties and fundraising activities to support their chosen charity, which this year is Guide Dogs.

Activities+

In addition to your course, the Activities+ programme is full of fun things you can take part in.

The wide-ranging and fun-filled activities are open to all students at Weston College so, irrespective of your course, why not come along and have a go at something new?

Most are free and held on different days of the week in the afternoon or lunchtimes.

For more details, look out for posters around the College, on Moodle, on the College Facebook page and on this website, or pop into the Student Services office at your campus.

One Message, Different Voices

Take a look at this powerful film made by the staff of Weston College to show how important it is for everyone from different backgrounds to be included. The film shares heartfelt stories and interviews with a diverse group of staff, showing how accepting different identities and backgrounds can make a big difference. Its purpose is to encourage viewers to think about their own biases and work towards making our community more welcoming to all. We invite everyone, regardless of their background, to join us and be a part of our journey toward a more inclusive future.

Halo workplace logo

Our workplace champions the right of staff to embrace all Afro-hairstyles. We acknowledge that Afro-textured hair is an important part of our Black employees’ racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious identities, and requires specific styling for hair health and maintenance. We celebrate Afro-textured hair worn in all styles including, but not limited to, afros, locs, twists, braids, cornrows, fades, hair straightened through the application of heat or chemicals, weaves, wigs, headscarves, and wraps. In this workplace, we recognise and celebrate our colleagues’ identities. We are a community built on an ethos of equality and respect where hair texture and style have no bearing on an employee's ability to succeed.
