BTEC Extended Diplomas (suite of qualifications known as Nationals on the QCF Framework) in the following sport related areas:
Sport and Exercise Science - MMM Profile
Sports Coaching - MMM Profile
General Sport - MMM Profile
All 18 units must achieve Merit level as a minimum
BTEC Nationals (NQF Framework) in the following sport related areas:
Sport and Exercise Science - MMM Profile
Sports Coaching - MMM Profile
General Sport - MMM Profile
BTEC Diploma (Old National Certificate - QCF Framework)
Sport and Exercise Science - DM Profile
Sports Coaching - DM Profile
General Sport - DM Profile
All 12 units must achieve Merit level as a minimum.
A’ levels
Applicants must be studying a minimum of 2 full A' Levels achieving an overall profile of C, C including a grade C in a sport related subject eg:
Physical Education; Sports Studies; Biology; Human Biology or Psychology
NVQ - L3
Candidates must PASS the qualification and undertake the University's AP(E)L process which will require the submission of a written academic piece of work.
Access to Higher Education Course (Pass of 60 credits with minimum of 45 at L3)

Must have Level 2 English and Maths (either included or extra)
Level 3 qualifications in personal training
Candidates taking Personal Training Qualifications can only gain entry through the University's AP(E)L process which will require the submission of a written academic piece of work.
Level 2 Maths and English
All applicants will normally also require passes (at grade C or above) in Maths and English or their level 2 equivalents. Details of level 2 equivalent qualifications can be found here.
Non UK based qualifications
Students applying with non-UK based qualifications will be considered on an individual basis.
Applicants without formal academic qualifications
Students without formal qualifications but who have a minimum of two years' relevant work experience and are able to demonstrate that they have developed the necessary skills to succeed on the course can apply through the University's AP(E)L procedures. English Language Requirements
Where English is not the applicant’s first language an IELTS score of 6 or TOEFL score of 580 (paper-based) or 237 (computer-based) or equivalent qualification, will normally be required.
*All students must have Criminal Records Bureau enhanced clearance and absence of offences for this programme.The enhanced CRB check should be completed immediately on acceptance of an offer and this will form part of the condition of entry to the programme. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that the enhanced CRB check has been obtained.
*Due to strict CRB requirements there will be no deferred entry to this programme.
Progression
On successful completion of this course you may have the opportunity to continue for a further year to complete an Honours Degree. Alternatively, this course will prepare you for a career in sports coaching and the leisure industry.

Entry Requirements
You will need A Level 2 Counselling Skills Certificate Level 2 along with an openness to challenges and you must demonstrate maturity in your ability to reflect on your thoughts, behaviours and feelings.
You should also have achieved an A Level 3 course, for example an A Level in a related subject or an Advanced Certificate in Counselling.
You will also be required to complete a CRB form.

- An Honours Degree in Counselling
- Alternatively this course will prepare you for a variety of careers in the counselling field.
