Student Crime Scene Investigators Tackle 'Hit and Run'
Nearly 30 Weston College forensic science students were put to the test by Traffic Collision Investigators in a simulated hit and run fatal accident on Weston Airfield.

Crime Scene Investigator Students
More than 30 forensic science students from Weston College were put to the test by Crime Scene Investigators and police officers at Avon and Somerset Police Headquarters.

Entry Requirements
We recommend you have a minimum of four GCSEs at grades A-C, however all applications will be considered. You must also demonstrate an interest in science, engineering or laboratory work and a willingness to learn.
Having a relevant job (for a minimum of 16 hours per week), or in some cases, a work placement, is an essential part of an Apprenticeship.
You will need to put in time and effort to find an employer to offer you an Apprenticeship. The Apprenticeship team at the College will support you with your job search activities please get in touch if you need some help.
Additional Information - An interview is often required unless you are already in a relevant job.

What will I do during this Apprenticeship?

Entry Requirements
Level 2 - What do you need?
4 GCSEs at grade C-E range or completion of a Level 1 course. If you are planning to study an Apprenticeship, these entry requirements are only recommendations, you may well be able to undertake an Apprenticeship with fewer qualifications.
For the Level 2 Higher
Diploma you will need 4 GCSEs, including English and Maths at grade D or above, and preferably a minimum grade C in 2 other
subjects. Alternatively you will need an appropriate Level 1 qualification such as a NVQ 1 or BTEC Introductory Certificate or Diploma.
Progression
You may have the opportunity to:
- Progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship in laboratory technician.
- Continue your exciting and rewarding career as a laboratory technician.
Achieving this Apprenticeship will give you the equivalent of 5 GCSEs grades A*-C.
* You may be exempt if you have recently achieved a good grade in English Language and Maths at GCSE.
