What are the costs?
The costs of training can be fully subsidised for people aged 16 – 18. If you are over 18 please ask us for details of current funding options. In cases where no subsidies are available, standard costs will apply.
Additional information
You will need to become a member of The Association of Accounting Technicians (approximately £100).
The course requires the purchase of textbooks (approximately £65).
An interview is usually required if you are not already employed in the sector.
Entry Requirements
We recommend you have a minimum of four GCSEs at grades A*- C, however all applications will be considered. You must also demonstrate an interest in accountancy and a willingness to learn.
Having a relevant job (for a minimum of 16 hours per week) is an essential part of an Apprenticeship.
You will need to put in time and effort to find an employer to offer you an Apprenticeship. The Apprenticeship team at the College will support you with your job search activities please get in touch if you need some help.
Progression
ACCA, CIMA and ACA qualifications are the natural progression paths, with exemptions from some papers.

Entry Requirements
Level 2 - What do you need?
4 GCSEs at grade C-E range or completion of a Level 1 course. If you are planning to study an Apprenticeship, these entry requirements are only recommendations, you may well be able to undertake an Apprenticeship with fewer qualifications.
For the Level 2 Higher
Diploma you will need 4 GCSEs, including English and Maths at grade D or above, and preferably a minimum grade C in 2 other
subjects. Alternatively you will need an appropriate Level 1 qualification such as a NVQ 1 or BTEC Introductory Certificate or Diploma.
Progression
You may have the opportunity to:
- Progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship in laboratory technician.
- Continue your exciting and rewarding career as a laboratory technician.
Achieving this Apprenticeship will give you the equivalent of 5 GCSEs grades A*-C.
* You may be exempt if you have recently achieved a good grade in English Language and Maths at GCSE.
