The future for students
Weston Bay Hotel is an exciting new development based at Clevedon Road in Weston-super-Mare. The aim of this facility is to support students who are on the autism spectrum to improve their social and independent living skills, perhaps before moving on to independent living, employment or higher education.
Learners aged over 18 have an opportunity to make use of the residential setting which consists of four self-contained flats for students wishing to stay for longer periods of time, and a further 10 bedsits for shorter stays. The length of time a student will stay will depend and be agreed with each individual. Students aged under 18 will be able to participate in the day time training activities.
Each student have an individualised programme which will be agreed between the student and tutor. The individualised programme may include sessions to help improve the students’ social skills, study skills and independent living skills. They will be supported to access the community and given the opportunity to use assistive technology to aid these areas of development. Students will also be able to undertake work experience and job coaching to give them the confidence to move into employment.
Weston Bay is staffed by trained professionals at all times and is open all year, with the exception of two weeks over the Christmas period.
