The Kickstart Scheme
If you are looking to employ young people in your business through the Kickstart Scheme, we can support you through the process.
Weston College is a Kickstart Gateway, meaning that we can help you apply for the Kickstart Scheme, as well as offering training and support to your participants, at no cost to your business.
Find out about Kickstart, below.
What is the Kickstart Scheme?
The Kickstart Scheme provides funding for employers to create 6-month placements, for people aged 16-24, that are currently receiving Universal Credit.
This is a great opportunity for you to discover new talent, and train up young people to develop skills that can be used to support your business.
How is the Kickstart Scheme funded?
Funding is available to cover 100% of the National Minimum wage of the participant for 25 hours a week, for a total of 6 months.
As well as wage funding, the Kickstart Scheme will also cover the associated employer National Insurance contributions and employer minimum automatic pension contributions.
There is £1,500 funding per job placement for employers, which helps with setup costs, and supporting the young person.
How long will Kickstart Scheme last?
Each placement lasts 6-months, with the Kickstart Scheme being delivered until December 2021.
Once the placement is complete, we can support the participant with further training.
How do I apply?
Weston College want to make it as easy as possible for you to access participants through Kickstart. You can access the scheme through Kickstart Gateways, such as Weston College.
We regularly submit applications for our employer partners, so whether you want to hire one participant, or 30, just inform us how many placements you would like to offer, and we will do the rest.
