Lead Adult Care Worker (Apprenticeship Level 3)

Introduction 

On completion of this standard, apprentices will demonstrate a range of excellent skills such as providing leadership, guidance and direction at the frontline of care delivery. They will be instrumental in improving the health and wellbeing of those receiving care and support. Other units covered within this qualification include right values and behaviours, respect and dignity, communication, safeguarding, promoting health and wellbeing and how to work professionally. Learners will also complete a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults). This qualification is promoted and valued by employers. 

Entry requirements 

A Level 2 health and social care qualification is needed to start this apprenticeship or substantial workplace experience in a health and social care setting. Learners will also be assessed to ensure they have the ability to complete the English and maths qualifications at Level 2. Candidates must undertake a recognised enhanced disclosure and barring service check. 

Functional skills 

Apprentices will be required to have or achieve Level 2 English and maths prior to completion of their apprenticeship. If this has already been achieved then development of further English and maths skills will continue for the whole of the apprenticeship. 

End point assessment 

To achieve this apprenticeship standard, the employer, training provider and apprentice will agree when the apprentice is ready and competent to undertake the independent end assessment, which will test their skills knowledge and behaviours required for this role. 

Qualifications included in this programme 

A Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (England) (Adult Care). 

Progression 

Learners may progress from this pathway onto further qualifications specific to their work context. These may include the Higher Apprenticeship in Care Leadership and Management, specialist Level 4 or 5 diplomas or management qualifications. 

Duration 

This apprenticeship is expected to last between 12 and 24 months. 

Funding 

This apprenticeship is in funding band 4. Levy paying employers may fund apprentices on this programme from their Apprenticeship Account and non-levy paying SMEs through the co-funded option. There may be a small fee for some SME’s.
