CfE Webinar: Recognising and working with anxiety, presenting as panic in learners and staff (Virtual)

Attendees will develop their understanding of anxiety including health, social and generalised anxiety. They will learn how anxiety leads to isolated panic attacks which over time many develop into panic disorder. They will explore the biological functions and reactions associated with panic including unpleasant physical sensations in the body which can in turn become triggers for future panic episodes.

Training aim
This training aims to:
- Explore the biological functions and reactions associated with panic
- Understand how the symptoms of panic attacks can manifest
- Explore how panic affects and interrupts the sufferer's propensity to function normally
- Learn techniques to reduce the panic cycle using breathing
- Develop other strategies to support sufferers
Outcomes
This training will help support staff to understand the physical and emotional effects of anxiety and panic. It will assist them to develop strategies to overcome or minimise the symptoms of anxiety and reduce the barriers to working and learning.
