FREE Health and Social Care 1-hour Workshops

These FREE 1-hour workshops are an excellent opportunity to gain an insight into working within the health and social care sector. They will focus on the key skills needed in the sector, and the knowledge and behaviours required to become an exceptional practitioner.
You will be based at the Health and Active Living Skills Centre, Loxton Campus, which has a modern learning environment specifically for adults studying health and social care. The state-of-the-art simulation ward gives you the closest experience to a real-life hospital ward with realistic scenarios to prepare you for the world of work.
Who are these workshops for?
These workshops are designed for anyone over 19, who are looking for employment within the field, or those who already work within the sector and are looking to refresh/upskill in key areas to support the deliverance of outstanding patient care.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for these FREE 1-hour workshops. However, if you are wanting to progress onto a health and social care course you will need to attend an interview and have a clear DBS.

What will each workshop involve?
This session will give you an insight into the realities of a shift in an acute environment. You will work in our simulated ward performing essential care and clinical tasks to meet the needs of your patients..
This session will give you an overview of the roles and responsibilities of a social care employee. You will be given the opportunity to work through case studies in a simulated environment with industry professions to develop key skills, knowledge, and behaviours.
This session will allow you to develop some key clinical skills, including venepuncture and catheterisation, and give you an insight into the knowledge and legislation that underpins these skills.
This session will give you an insight into the key skills, knowledge and behaviours that are required to work in the sector, and how these can be applied into your everyday lives.
This session will include a discussion with a guest speaker to give you an insight into opportunities for progression within health and social care, as well as helping you develop your leadership skills.
This session will offer an overview of working with different types of dementia, and support you to develop key skills and behaviours for every day practice.
