Clare staff spotlight
I started out in the catering industry as a pot washer at a restaurant.
I worked my up to waiting staff, supervisor role and then a manager role through various companies throughout England and now lecture hospitality and barista courses at Weston College.
I thoroughly enjoy my role, helping learners understand the hospitality industry and to build their confidence. The College also provides me with the opportunity to increase my skills and knowledge.
As I tell my learners, the hospitality industry is extremely varied and opens lots of doors. You always have the chance to progress and it allows you to travel, make a good living and meet different kinds of people.
It’s a tough industry, but also fun, enjoyable and rewarding – as long as you give yourself something to strive for and work hard achieving those goals.
