I took my first steps towards a career in catering by studying the food and beverage, and professional cookery qualifications at Weston College.
I’ve worked in a range of businesses – from fine dining restaurants to busy sea-front hotels – and events, including Cheltenham Festival. This involved long days, but was great fun and I got to meet some famous people. In that time, I progressed from commis chef and to a head chef role.
I then moved into the educational section, spending ten years assessing hospital, before moving into my role as Hospitality and Catering Co-ordinator. This involves overseeing the College’s kitchen and restaurant.

My advice to any students thinking of pursuing a career in the industry would be to set your sights high and never settle for second best.
