Journey into Journalism: Media Learner Thrilled as Writing Published Online
Whilst studying the second year of her Level 3 Media Production Extended Diploma, Bethany wrote a piece of writing titled: “Block Him If You Want To Move On” as part of a mock interview as part of the course. Following the success of the interview, the Nailsea School alumni was encouraged to submit the article to She Rose Revolution, an online publication website dedicated to sharing women's empowering words and stories.
As an aspiring journalist and author, Bethany was thrilled to receive an email saying they loved her piece and would like to publish it on their site.
Bethany commented: “Having my work published online is the most surreal feeling; I still click over to website now and have to convince myself that it really was me who wrote the article. I was shocked that the company even got in touch with me, let alone liked my work. I'm feeling incredibly proud and very excited to write more for their website.
“Their company has given me the opportunity to write from my heart and share it with the world, in a way that resonates with readers and helps them in their own struggles. For me, this is really important. I enjoy writing with the knowledge that my words are making a difference, and impacting my readers lives in a positive way”
Dan Andrews, Lecturer in Media Production added: “I am so proud that Beth took the initiative to use an article she wrote for a mock interview on the Media Production course and actually send it to ‘She rose revolution’.
“Now she has a published article out there for everyone to see and I am sure this is just the start of Beth's journalistic career.”
As well as currently writing her own novel, after finishing at College, Bethany is hoping to study Media and Journalism at University, with an interest in working in the magazine publishing field.
Fantastic achievement and a foot in the door to make strides into the industry moving forward! Well done Bethany!
