Weston College Continues to Lead the Sector with ISO 27001 Certification
With the education sector being targeted by cyberattacks, Weston College continues to provide its learners and stakeholders with reassurance that they following internationally recognised best practice to keep their data secure.
Following an annual assessment visit and audit by the Centre for Assessment, Weston College has retained its ISO 27001 certification for 5th consecutive year – continuing to be one of the only Further Education Colleges in the UK to hold the certification.
ISO (International Organisation for Standardization) is the largest global non-governmental body, and is responsible for setting international standards, which helps organisations to standardise their practices and policies.
The ISO 27001 certification provides requirements for information security management to maintain the security of assets such as financial information, intellectual property, employee details or information entrusted by third parties.
Sir Paul Phillips CBE, Principal and Chief Executive of the Weston College Group, said: “The continuation of this certification following a thorough external audit is a huge achievement for the College and reflects the enormous commitment and effort all areas within the scope of this certification have put in.
“We have invested a lot of time and effort into ensuring that we protect the data of everyone that we deal with at Weston College – putting their safety first. Amongst our teams we have Information Security Leads, who help everyone to keep to the ISO 27001 standards and the Assessor was very impressed with the commitment and consistency shown by the team at Weston College, a huge well done to these staff members who have helped with this goal.”
