Weston College is incredibly excited to share the news that their annual Creative Arts Summer Show will be returning for 2020 – online!
The Weston College Creative Arts Summer show is an annual event that showcases the spectacular art and work created by creative students. In previous years, parents, friends and members of the community have gathered to witness the learners’ artwork, performances and projects in an exhibition at Loxton Campus as well as multiple productions throughout Weston-super-Mare. However due to the COVID-19 outbreak, like many other events worldwide, the physical 2020 Summer Show had to be re-imagined.
Behind the scenes staff and students have been hard at work preparing a digital platform to host the artwork, designs, performances and projects from the terrifically talented class of 2020.
The faculty have created a bespoke creative website that showcases showreels from the Media department, performances from music students, performing arts production pieces and lots more.
Racheal Heath, Dean of Creative Arts, commented: “Lockdown has proven that these unique forms of performance, design and media all have a way of transcending geography, adapting for the digital age and showing that art is still a key player and an industry that continues to grow.
“Making the summer show accessible digitally made complete sense to celebrate the success that emanates from our students here at Weston College.
“We are so proud of what these our students have achieved.”
Principal and Chief Executive, Dr Paul Philips CBE, added: “Visiting the Creative Arts Summer Show is always a delight and an event I fondly look forward to every year.
“With the barriers of travel and time now removed, I’m positive that our learner’s brilliant work will reach even more people worldwide! Their creativity and excellence will inspire others and continue to serve as a valuable pillar within our community. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our talented students and wish them every success in their creative careers, please keep in touch!”
The website will be launching on Thursday 9th July at 6pm, starting out with a Livestream on the College’s Facebook page. This will include a catch up with some of our Creative Arts team on the year of 2020, as well as an introduction to the website itself, taking you on a virtual tour.
