The UK motor industry is a fast-paced and exciting sector, and now is the perfect time to become a qualified motor vehicle technician. Read on to find out why…
It’s a secure job
Cars, motorbikes and other vehicles have been around for hundreds of years, and they’re not going away soon! Even with new technologies such as hybrid, carbon neutral, and driverless, there will always be a requirement technicians to service, MOT and repair them. Weston College is already looking to the future of motor vehicle repair with its new electric vehicle fleet.
Motor vehicle skills are useful
You’ll be able to repair your own car, which could save you, your family and friends lots of money! You could also use your skills to start your own garage or become self-employed, or use the skills you’ve learned to earn money in addition to your current job.
It pays well
The average salary for automotive service technician/mechanics is just short of £20,000 per year. Specialising in an area such as 4x4, hybrid or electric vehicles can boost this salary by as much as £5,000 to £10,000. Technicians working on high-end engines can earn a lot of money…
