Software Development Technician, Apprenticeship
What will I do on this course?
This apprenticeship covers the following roles: software development technician, junior developer, junior web developer, junior application developer, junior mobile app developer, junior games developer, junior software developer, junior application support analyst, junior programmer, assistant programmer and automated test developer. You will have the opportunity to combine ‘on-the-job training’ with study in a college environment.
You will start by learning the basics across several different areas the first year, you will be taught the technical knowledge and practical competencies needed to complete your apprenticeship. You will also work in our dedicated computing and digital classrooms and lab to develop new skills.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through workplace observations and practical tests. You will also complete online tests, assignments and produce a portfolio of evidence.
This will be part of your end-point assessment.
What could I do after this course?
Most learners will progress into a technician-level position. You could also progress to related higher education programmes, such as the degrees or degree apprenticeships on offer at University Centre Weston.
3 GCSEs at grade 4 or higher including mathematics, English and science, or equivalent. You will also need to be in relevant employment, but we can help you to find this.
