Teaching Assistant, Intermediate Apprenticeship
What will I do on this course?
This Level 2 teaching assistant apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage while learning in the workplace.
You’ll learn from a qualified teacher and mentor in school and attend College for approximately one day a week to learn about the technical aspects of the role.
You’ll cover topics including children and young people’s development, positive behaviour, learning activities, and health and safety. The course includes the Level 2 QCF Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools; functional skills in English, maths and IT; personal learning and thinking skills; and employment rights and responsibilities.
How will I be assessed?
We’ll assess your practical skills and observe you at work. You’ll also complete written assignments to show your knowledge.
What could I do after this course?
You will have the skills to apply for jobs in schools as a teaching assistant or learning support assistant. Alternatively you can increase your skills with a teaching assistant advanced apprenticeship at Weston College.
You’ll need four GCSEs at grade 9-3 or a Level 1 qualification. You’ll also need to be in relevant employment, but we can help you find this. On enrolment your employer will require you to undertake a DBS check.
