Apprentice Aerospace Engineer at Belcan
Daily duties:
- Develop CAD knowledge, skills and understanding of civil aircraft structures, by completing training tasks and participating in and assisting engineers on live jobs
- Work with Engineering models and Drawings ready for checking and delivery to High profile clients
- Partake in the engineering review process to improve technical and business knowledge
- Develop professional skills by communicating with customers and colleagues
- Managing college and work-based activities to keep up with the dynamic workload of the Airframe team
- Provide technical support within project-based tasks to assist project teams ranging from CAD to Microsoft Office software
- Produce accurate records of personal development within the company such as logbooks
- Involvement within the ‘Young Engineers’ team to plan future training opportunities and events and improve the current training / recruitment process for the future

After 20+ years of UK exposure Belcan are now excited to launch their degree apprenticeship program. Based in their Bristol Airframe engineering office were apprentices will have the opportunity to work within an award-winning team within the aerospace industry, engineers within the Bristol office also have exposure to projects within the maritime, defense and software industries.Working in close partnership with the other Belcan UK offices, apprentices will be able to develop their interests and skills into top industry class engineers during the course of their apprenticeship.
- Aerospace Engineering Level 6 degree qualification
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Level 2 Diploma in Aerospace and Aviation (Foundation Competence)
- Level 4 Diploma in Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing (Development Competence)
- Level 6 Bachelor Honours Degree (BEng) Stipulated by the employer and accredited by an Engineering Council licenced.
- Professional Engineering Institution
All of the qualification requirements in the foundation and development phases are mandatory outcomes for the completion and final certification of the Apprenticeship Standard. Each qualification has a core and options approach and employers will select the most applicable pathway and unit options to meet their organisational requirements.
There will be an end point assessment during the final phase of the Apprenticeship where the apprentice will need to demonstrate to the employer how they have achieved full occupational competence against, skills, knowledge and behaviours, set out in the Standard On successful completion of the End Point assessment and employer endorsement phase (final sign off) apprentices will be then be put forward to be awarded their Apprenticeship completion certificate.
Potential for a full-time job offer, however this is not guaranteed.
