Barbering, Advanced Apprenticeship
What will I do on this course?
The Level 3 Barbering Apprenticeship provides practical skills on the job as well as developing your theoretical skills in Weston College’s commercial salons. You’ll earn a wage and gain valuable work experience while also getting the benefits of being a student.
You’ll study a range of topics, including advanced techniques in creative hair cutting, shaving methods, colour correction and creative styling. You will also develop interpersonal skills, professionalism and behaviours expected in a salon environment. These will help you communicate effectively with clients. We’ll also develop your English and maths skills as part of this course.
How will I be assessed?
Your personal assessor will visit your salon to review your progress and we’ll assess you in our commercial salon. Once your gradebook is complete we will agree an end point assessment with you, which will be an externally graded six-hour trade test.
What could I do after this course?
The majority of our apprentices are kept on by their employer after they finish their course. You’ll also meet the criteria for a number of roles in the barbering industry and could even open you own barber shop. You could further develop your skills with a management qualification or a foundation degree in hair and beauty.
A Level 2 barbering qualification, plus English and maths at Level 1 or above. You’ll also need to be in employment in the industry, but we can help you find this.
