Not quite ready to take a T Level?
This programme will set you up with a host of excellent skills and new approaches to learning that will put you in a great position to move onto a T Level. You’ll also get the chance to get the GCSE English and Maths grades you need if you haven’t already attained them, wrapped up in a valuable and relevant training package.
What will I do on this course?
This one-year pre-T Level course will give you a great insight into careers in a range of construction professions. You’ll learn about the structure of the construction industry, sustainability, the use of science and maths in construction, and construction drawing techniques.
The programme is a mixture of college and work-based learning to give you the technical skills and workplace experience to kick-start your construction career. You will complete a core technical qualification that will develop your understanding of the construction sector and the built environment plus undertake a 1-week industry placement with one of our partner construction companies.
Technical areas of study could include surveying, design, civil engineering, planning and emerging technologies such as drone surveying and BIM. As part of this study programme, you will develop your maths and English skills to get you up to a grade 5, gain support through a personalised tutorial programme and access enrichment activities and individual development opportunities. All aspects of your study programme will be discussed at your interview, so you can understand what’s available and ask any questions.
How will I be assessed?
We’ll assess your skills in a number of ways, including written assignments, presentations, projects, live briefs from employers, practical work and time-constrained assessments.
What could I do after this course?
Successful completion of this course will lead you on to a Level 3 T Level where you can further develop your skills and knowledge. You can then access higher levels of learning, such as HNCs, University and Degree Apprenticeships.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 9-2 with at least one grade 4, or a qualifying Level 1 qualification.
