WHAT DOES THIS COURSE INVOLVE
You will gain a broad understanding of the childcare sector and start to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours you need. You will also be offered a work placement to experience real work practice and demonstrate your skills.
You will cover units including healthy eating, planning a safe childcare environment, creative activities, physical play and supporting children’s learning through everyday experiences. You will also develop your English and maths skills to the level that most employers look for. This programme will give you practical skills, confidence, and employability within the early years sector.
ASSESSMENT METHOD
You will be assessed through written coursework, presentations, and practical experiences.
FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES
This study programme is a steppingstone to further education at Level 2, a traineeship, or an apprenticeship. The personal, social and work skills that you will gain will support your employment opportunities in all areas.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A genuine interest in working with people is an absolute necessity. You will also need five GCSEs at grade 3-1 with at least two at grade 3, or the successful completion of a pre-vocational programme. On enrolment you will be required to undertake a DBS check, which the College will pay for.
