Barbering, VRQ Diploma
What will I do on this course?
This programme will give you a good level of basic training in barbering and covers all the practical skills you will need to work in a salon such as cutting, colouring and styling. You will develop personal skills and confidence to enable you to work effectively and professionally with clients and colleagues. You will further develop your knowledge and apply the skills you have learnt in a commercial salon and by attending work placements throughout the year. As part of this study programme you will develop your maths and English skills, attend tutorials and Individual Development (ID). You will also complete a work placement or extended industry placement. All aspects of your study programme will be discussed at your interview.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through online tests, practical work, assignments and projects. You will have an online gradebook that you will keep up-to-date and manage targets that your tutor sets you throughout the year.
What could I do after this course?
This study programme could lead to employment as a men’s hairdresser, or Levels 2 and 3 programmes such as women’s hairdressing or a hairdressing apprenticeship.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 9-2, with at least two at grade 4, or a qualifying Level 1 qualification.
