What will I do on this course?
The Level 1 hair and beauty course provides an insight into the industry. You’ll develop your knowledge and practical skills by studying a variety of units, including colouring hair, creating retail displays, styling women’s hair, skin care, basic make-up and nail art application.
You’ll develop your knowledge and skills by working in the College’s real-life commercial salon and attending work placements throughout the year. Tutorial support, personal and social development, and English and maths skills are also fundamental elements of this course.
How will I be assessed?
You’ll be assessed through online tests, practical work, assignments and projects. You’ll also have an online gradebook that you will keep up-to-date and manage targets that your tutor sets you throughout the year.
What could I do after this course?
This course could be your first step into the hair and beauty industry. You could progress to a Level 2 course in Women’s Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy or Hair and Media Make-up at Weston College. Or you could choose an apprenticeship or traineeship in the hair and beauty industry
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 3-1, with at least two at grade 3, or the successful completion of a prevocational programme.
