This course provides the ideal introduction to the industry of Hairdressing, teaching you the basic skills, and getting you prepared for the progression onto Level 2. You will also consider future career roles you may wish to pursue, and the confidence that you can achieve those goals.
Studying this course means that you will also be part of our Hair and Beauty Career Excellence Hub, which is endorsed by leading employers, who are actively involved throughout your whole training programme.
What does the course involve?
The Level 1 hair programme provides an insight into the industry. You will develop your knowledge and practical skills by studying a variety of units, including colouring hair, creating retail displays, styling women’s hair, s, plaiting and twisting, head and scalp treatments.
You will develop your knowledge and skills by working in the College’s real-life commercial salon. Tutorial support, personal and social development, and English and maths skills are also fundamental elements of this programme.
How will the course be assessed?
You will be assessed through online tests, practical work, assignments and projects. You will also have an online gradebook that you will keep up-to-date and manage targets that your tutor sets you throughout the year.
Are there any additional costs?
You will be required to purchase a kit and a uniform; these will be available from the college shop.
What future study opportunities and careers are there?
This programme could be your first step into the hair industry. You could progress to a Level 2 programme in Women’s Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy or Hair and Media Make-up at Weston College. Or you could choose an apprenticeship or traineeship in the hair and beauty industry.
