Women’s Hairdressing Technical Progression Programme
If you are looking into beginning a career in women’s hairdressing, this course is the perfect way to start, being taught by our industry professionals.
On this programme you will gain a basic level of training in hairdressing, covering all the practical skills of a salon such as cutting, colouring, and styling. Your personal skills and confidence will be developed to enable you to work effectively and professionally with clients and colleagues, gaining fantastic customer service as a result.
What does the course involve?
You will further develop your knowledge and apply the skills you have learned through working in a real-life commercial salon and attending work placements throughout the year. As part of this study programme, you will develop your maths and English skills, attend tutorials and Individual Development (ID).
You will also complete a work placement or extended industry placement, providing you with highly beneficial experience that will help you stand out to employers.
All aspects of your study programme will be discussed at your interview.
How will the course be assessed?
You will be assessed through online tests, practical work, assignments and projects. You will have an online gradebook that you will keep up-to-date and manage targets that your tutor sets you throughout the year. You will be tested every term while being monitored by a local employer with external quality assurance. There are two written exams on this programme.
Are there any additional costs?
You will be required to purchase a kit and a uniform; these will be available from the college shop.
What future study opportunities and careers are there?
This programme could lead to employment as a stylist or a hairdresser, the Level 3 qualification in Women’s Hairdressing or Barbering, or an apprenticeship in the hairdressing industry.

Entry Requirements
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 9-2, including English or maths, with at least two at grade 4, or a qualifying Level 1 qualification.
