In today’s society, it is so important to learn about businesses, how they run, and why it matters. Every industry relies on business principles to survive and thrive. Even while times change, the primary role of business remains the same: to provide customers with goods and services.
This A Level will provide you with the knowledge to have a wide understanding about different areas of business, acting as the perfect steppingstone to progress onto further education.
This course is part of our Sixth Form Career Excellence Hubs, which brings you closer to industry than ever before. You will hear from people within the industry, who will equip you with the latest skills, to enhance your future career opportunities.
What does the course involve?
You will consider businesses in a variety of contexts, such as large and small, local and global, and service and manufacturing businesses.
In these contexts, you will learn about business, leadership, management and decision making, marketing, operations, finance and human resources. You will also analyse the strategic position of a business, as well as learning how to choose strategic direction, pursue strategies, and manage strategic change.
You will learn to consider the context of a business in relation to decision making, how to use data to make decisions, how technological advancements affect the way decisions are made, and how to assess risk when making strategic decisions.
How will the course be assessed?
You will be assessed through examinations in your second year.
What future study opportunities and careers are there?
You could apply for a related degree at university or follow an apprenticeship route on successful completion. You could also progress to a degrees here at University Centre Weston in:
- Business Management and Sustainability BA (Hons)
- HR Consultant/Partner Apprenticeship
Or there will be career opportunities in HR, marketing or finance.
