Fashion and Textiles Design, A Level
This subject will offer an exciting opportunity to embrace textile art, textile design and elements of fashion looking at the design industry from an artist’s perspective. It will introduce you to the contemporary approach of the industry and encourage you to flourish as a potential textile designer, looking at a variety of techniques.
You will also cover a printing unit, looking at techniques such as shibori and screen-printing. You will combine your practical work with theory, research, and presentation skills, enabling you to develop fully as a budding designer or textile artist.
How will I be assessed?
Component 1 - personal investigation (60%) of qualification/120 marks.
Component 2 - externally set assignment (40%) of qualification/80 marks.
What could I do after this course?
This programme could lead to degree-level study, such as Weston College’s Art and Design UAL Foundation (pre-degree) or in BA (Hons) Art and Design at University Centre Weston.
Five GCSEs at grade 9-4, including English and maths, and grade 5 or above in an art-based subject.
