What will I do on this course?
This two-year course will enhance your skills in a variety of different areas in the media industry. It provides the platform for you to further your opportunities to gain a career in the TV and film or media industry. You will learn all aspects of filmmaking, storytelling, journalism, video editing, scriptwriting and multi-camera events. You will also study what happens behind the scenes in the media industry and investigate theory relating to narrative, genre and audience.
You will have the opportunity to work directly with external media clients, providing valuable industry experience, and you will complete pre-production paperwork to a standard expected of the media industry. This course will develop your ability to write and research through coursework-based projects, whilst developing your core skills in teamwork, independent working and communication.
As part of this study programme you will develop your maths and English skills, attend tutorials and Individual Development (ID) or Future Academy. You will also complete a work placement or extended industry placement. All aspects of your study programme will be discussed at your interview.

How will I be assessed?
You’ll be assessed through practical projects and written assignments. As part of this programme you will be required to undertake work experience.
What could I do after this course?
This course could lead to a successful career in media production. You could increase your skills with a degree in Film and Animation Production at University Centre Weston. You will also be able to access content producer roles.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 9-2 with at least two at grade 4, or a qualifying Level 1 qualification, plus a strong portfolio of work and a successful interview.
