Photography, UAL Extended Diploma
This programme is focussed on the photographic arts. It includes a broad curriculum of experimental briefs, creative and technical skills, professional development and contextual studies, as an introduction to a wide range of cutting-edge and historical photographic practices. You will be encouraged to develop independent practice and prepare to work across media industries and the photographic arts. You will learn to develop an approach that encompasses commercial practice, documentary, landscape and fine art photography.
You will also learn to understand photography and develop a critically reflective approach through experimentation, creativity and risk-taking. You will be working with the excellent facilities at Loxton Campus – including dark rooms, specialist studios and digital suites. As part of this study programme you will develop your maths and English skills, attend tutorials and Individual Development (ID).
You will also complete a work placement or extended industry placement. All aspects of your study programme will be discussed at your interview.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through practical projects and written assignments.
What could I do after this course?
You will have the skills to apply for jobs in the photography industry. Or, you could increase your skills with a BA (Hons) in Photography and Visual Vultures at University Centre Weston. You will also be able to access junior and assistant photographer freelance work.
You will need five GCSE’s at grade 9-4 including an art related subject and English, or a qualifying Level 2 qualification. A strong portfolio of work, plus a successful interview will be required.
