Protective Services, Extended Diploma
This programme brings together academic study, practical skills and knowledge of the uniformed public services. It covers a range of study topics including government policies, citizenship, diversity, leadership, teamwork, understanding discipline, and fitness testing and training. You will also get the opportunity to focus on a specialist unit.

What does the course involve?
You could choose between international institutions and human rights, outdoor and adventurous expedition, skills for land or water based outdoor and adventurous activities, planning and management of major incidents, responding to emergency service incidents, and career planning for the public services. This qualification will also include access to Weston Sport and enrichment programmes, tutorial support, employability and study skills.
As part of this study programme, you will develop your maths and English skills, attend tutorials and Individual Development (ID). You will also complete a work placement or extended industry placement. All aspects of your study programme will be discussed at your interview.
How will the course be assessed?
This qualification is assessed by exams, coursework, presentations and practical activities.
Are there any additional costs?
During the course, there will be several trips and outdoor activities arranged, at an additional cost. These are not mandatory trips.
What future study opportunities and careers are there?
This programme could lead to a career in the armed, public or emergency services. You could also enhance your skills by progressing to the BA (Hons) Uniformed and Public Services at the University Centre Weston.
