Art and Design, UAL Foundation Diploma (Pre-Degree)
The UAL Foundation Diploma in Art and Design is an exciting, acclaimed and fast-paced programme. Our aim is to develop individuality and expand creative and visual thinking through to Level 4; encouraging experimentation of varied materials and approaches. Throughout the year we offer dedicated support to cultivate your creative focus and become an autonomous practitioner.
This programme provides the time and opportunity to explore your next step whilst building a strong portfolio in readiness for undergraduate study or employment. As part of this study programme you will develop your maths and English skills, attend tutorials and Individual Development (ID). You will also complete a work placement or extended industry placement. All aspects of your study programme will be discussed at your interview.
You will be assessed through practical studio-based projects and written assignments. A final grade is awarded upon the completion of an extensive personal enquiry and public gallery show.
What Will This Lead To?
Our Foundation Diploma will open the door to any of the creative arts degrees on offer at University Centre Weston which include: BA (Hons) Art and Design, BA(Hons) Games and Animation Production, BA (Hons) Film and Media Production, BA (Hons) Photography and Visual Cultures or the FdA in Graphic Design , apprenticeships, work placements and creative job opportunities.
You will need one A Level in a creative subject and five GCSEs at grade 9-4, or the equivalent, together with a strong portfolio of work. You’ll also be asked to attend an interview.
