Assistant Accountant, Apprenticeship
Building a strong knowledge of financial activities and processes, including providing valuable reports and information, your role will be beneficial to the finance function of an organisation. Working alongside trained professionals, it’s the perfect context to develop the complexities of the industry. You will also assist in the day-to-day supporting of all stakeholders.
You’ll learn practical skills, essential for your future roles, for example completing tax and VAT returns, as well as self-development skills, for example working methodically and insightfully.
Studying this course means that you will also be part of our Business Career Excellence Hub, which is endorsed by leading employers, who are actively involved throughout your whole training programme.
What does the course involve?
This Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship provides valuable workplace skills and experience while you earn a wage. You will spend most of your week with your employer and attend College occasionally to learn the theoretical elements of the role.
You will undertake a number of qualifications including the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 3 Diploma.
The programme covers a range of topics, including advanced bookkeeping, final accounts preparation, management accounting (costing), indirect tax, ethics for accounting, and spreadsheets. We will also work with you to develop your English and maths skills.
How will the course be assessed?
You will complete the AAT Advanced Diploma assessments, skills tests, a portfolio of evidence, a synoptic assessment and a professional discussion.
Are there any additional costs?
You will be required to become a member of the AAT and there are also optional AAT books that will assist you with your studies.
What future study opportunities and careers are there? The majority of Weston College apprentices are kept on by their employers after they finish their programme. You will be equipped for a variety of roles, including accounting technician, accounts clerk or finance assistant.
You could also increase your skills with a higher apprenticeship like the Level 4 Professional Accounting Technician or the BA (Hons) Business Management and with Sustainability at University Centre Weston.
