International Certification of Digital Literacy (ICDL), Extra
This course is designed for people aged over 19 years and is widely recognised by employers as the benchmark in computing skills. ICDL stands for International Certification of Digital Literacy, is the new name for the ECDL programme.
As from 1st May 2022, new candidates will be registered on the new ICDL programme. Many employers will only consider applicants with a proven capability in the use of computers. This course focuses on the skills required in an office environment where everyday computing skills are essential. With a Level 2 Certificate, employers know you have the skills to carry out commonly required computer tasks, so this course directly improves your career opportunities.
This qualification is aimed at learners who have a good knowledge of computing but need to improve their digital skills to find employment or to help them work more effectively in their current role. The course will focus on three key programmes – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. You will gain confidence, knowledge and understanding in these programmes and you will then complete an online exam for each of them, plus a contextualised industry-based scenario project activity. You will be supported by our highly qualified lecturers to achieve this valuable qualification.

Assessment method

Entry Requirements
It isn’t necessary that you have completed ECDL Essentials, but it is recommended as you are going onto a Level 2 qualification. You will need access to a laptop/PC outside of the taught hours as you will be provided with additional learning materials that will also assist you when completing your courses.
