Electrical Installation, Diploma
This course is taught at our fantastic South West Skills Campus, which has state-of-the-art facilities, including dedicated electrical workshops, where you will receive your own bay to work in.
This course runs three days a week - Tuesday and Thursday 6-9pm and Saturday 9.30-4.30pm.
You will acquire the knowledge and craft skills for electrical installation. It is suitable for anyone who does not currently work within the electrical industry and those who wish to acquire new knowledge and skills. This is an EAL qualification - EAL is an employer recognised awarding organisation for the engineering, manufacturing, building services and related sectors.
You will develop your skills and knowledge in key areas, needed to become an electrician. This includes: electrical installation theory and technology, electrical installation methods, procedures and requirements, electrical installation craft skills, electrical science and principles, as well as health and safety. The qualification is delivered completely at College, with a mix of workshop and theory sessions.
Within the qualification you will have the opportunity to utilise the IET On-Site Guide, and also be introduced to how regulations (including BS 7671) affect electrical installation. The qualification covers standard circuits as described in the On-Site Guide.
How will I be assessed?
The assessment involves on-screen examinations, practical assessments and a theory assignment.
Next Steps
Upon completion of this course you can progress onto a Level 3 courses (which maybe free under the National Skills Fund) or into employment.
