Electrical Installation, Diploma
This course is designed for people aged over 19 years and is perfect for anyone hoping to start their career as an electrician with a recognised industry qualification.
The Level 2 Diploma will help you acquire the knowledge and skills of electrical installation and is taught at our fantastic state-of-the-art South West Skills Campus.
This course does not require any occupational evidence so you can successfully complete the qualification even if you don’t work in the electrical industry. This makes it ideal for learners at the start of their careers or those looking to retrain and change careers.
You will develop your skills and knowledge through a combination of theory and practical workshop sessions, giving you the opportunity to practice in a safe and secure environment.
Within the qualification you will have the opportunity to utilise the IET On-Site Guide and be introduced to how regulations (including BS 7671) affect electrical installation. The qualification covers standard circuits as described in the On-Site Guide.

- Electrical installations technology
- Principles of electrical science
- Installation of wiring systems and enclosures
- Health and safety in building services engineering
- Communication skills for building services
Assessment method
The assessment involves on-screen examinations, practical assessments, and a theory assignment.
Progression opportunities
Successful completion of this course allows you to progress to a Level 3 course (which may be free under the National Skills Fund) or directly into employment.
