Site Carpentry, Apprenticeship
This apprenticeship will help take your on-the-job skills to an advanced level. You will work alongside an experienced tradesperson to develop your new skills and attend College one day a week to learn the theoretical side of your trade. This apprenticeship is designed for school leavers (16-19s).
You will learn the complex aspects of site work or joinery, including complex roofing geometry and site operations. In addition to the main units, you will be assessed on how you operate in a work environment, including maintaining a safe, clean, working environment and communicating with others.
How will I be assessed?
The end-point assessment consists of two key elements. The knowledge assessment consists of 40 questions designed to assess your understanding of the specific knowledge and behavioural requirements, while the practical assessment is a skills test.
What could I do after this course?
You could become a construction site manager, a carpenter with advanced skills, or you could set up your own carpentry business. You can also increase your skills by applying to join the HNC in Construction and the Built Environment (Construction) at University. Upon completion you are then eligible to apply for the Gold advanced craft CSCS card required to work on large construction projects.
You’ll need to have completed a Level 2 Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship and be in relevant employment, but we can help you find this.
