LGBT+ Introduction, CPD Workshop
This CPD workshop is designed for people aged over 19 years and offers an introduction to LGBT+ within the sector of counselling. The course offers a safe space to explore LGBT+ issues.
LGBT+ people are more likely to be affected by mental health problems including anxiety, depression, suicidal feelings and substance misuse. The higher prevalence of mental health issues within the LGBT+ community is due to a range of factors including discrimination, homophobia/biphobia/transphobia and isolation. Counselling gives individuals a safe and non-judgemental space where they can talk openly and develop strategies for dealing with any difficulties they may face.
This workshop will help enhance your career and counselling practice and is designed for those working in counselling or wanting to gain a greater understanding of LGBT+ within counselling.
- An understanding of what LGBT+ stands for
- History of LGBT+
- Expelling existing myths
- Exploring ways of using triads as a counsellor in this area
There are no formal assessments, however we work through practical sessions to ensure understanding.
After completion of this course, you could choose to attend another of our CPD workshops.
