This Art, Design & Media (Animation) Level 2 course is for students over the age of 19 and is offers an immersive exploration of the captivating world of animation, providing students with the knowledge and skills to bring their artistic visions to life. Designed for individuals with a basic understanding of animation or those who have completed the Level 1 Award, this Level 2 course expands upon foundational techniques and introduces students to more advanced animation principles and practices.
Throughout the course, students will engage in a series of hands-on projects and critical studies, guided by experienced instructors who are passionate about animation and dedicated to fostering students' creative growth. Students will have access to industry-standard software and equipment, enabling them to experiment with various animation techniques and develop their own unique artistic style.
You’ll also have the opportunity to exhibit at our end-of-year art show.

On the Level 2 Art, Design & Media (Animation), you will build on the knowledge and skills gained in the Level 1 Award and cover more advanced techniques and concepts in animation. Here are some of the things you can expect to learn:
- Advanced animation techniques: You will learn more advanced techniques in animation, such as keyframing, timing, and sequencing, and how to use specialised software.
- Character design and development: You will learn how to design and develop characters for your animations, including how to create character sheets, develop backstories, and add personality to your characters.
- Storyboarding and narrative development: You will learn how to create storyboards and develop narratives for your animations, including how to use pacing, sound, and visual elements to create engaging stories.
- Sound and music in animation: You will learn how to incorporate sound and music into your animations, including how to create sound effects and how to use music to enhance the mood and tone of your work.
