Assessing Vocational Achievement, Certificate
This course is designed for people aged over 19 years and will enable you to gain employment as a vocational assessor.
Assessing Vocational Achievement (Hair, Beauty, Barbering and Early Years sectors only) is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you to advance in your career as a vocational assessor. This level 3 course will teach you how to prepare, plan, and evaluate the assessment process. Together the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for an assessor role.
The course combines practical and class-based elements. It is intended for those who assess both occupational competence in an office environment, and vocational skills and knowledge in surroundings such as workshops, classrooms or training environments.
Entry onto this qualification requires you to have full competence in the vocational subject area that you will be assessing. The course will require an interview with a tutor and 6 weeks of class delivery before assessment can take place, either in your workplace or via Weston College opportunities.

- Principles and practices of assessment
- Assessing learners' occupational competence
- Assessing learners’ vocational skills and knowledge
- Knowledge and understanding of education and training
Assessment method
For this qualification you will require two case studies and observations. You can either work with learners at your own workplace or we can provide learners at our Knightstone Campus in Weston. Alongside this you will have assignments to complete and a portfolio to create.
Fees
This course is FREE if you are aged 19+, do not have a Level 3 qualification (A-Level equivalent), and currently live in the South West.
Progression opportunities
Successful completion of this course will enable you to become a fully qualified assessor in a classroom or work environment.

You are required to have a full competence in the vocational subject area that you will be assessing. For example, 5 years in the industry.
