Electrical Installation, Diploma
This course is designed for people aged over 19 years who are looking to improve their electrical installation skills with a recognised industry qualification. If you already have a Level 2 electrical qualification and want to further develop your knowledge and skills, this is the course for you.
The Electrical Installation Diploma Level 3 will equip you with a high level of industry competency. You will acquire knowledge of electrical theory and the required practical skills that will enable you to gain employment as an electrician or advance your electrical career. By the end of the course you will be able to work confidently and safely installing complex electrical systems and be able to produce high quality work.
This course is taught at our fantastic state-of-the-art South West Skills Campus where you will work in your own bay in the dedicated electrical workshops.
Subjects covered:
- Planning and overseeing electrical work activities
- Principles of electrical science
- Electrical design and installation practices and procedures
- Inspecting, testing, and commissioning electrical systems
- Electrical system fault diagnosis and rectification
- Requirements for electrical installations
- Presentation software
- Improving productivity using IT
Assessment method
You will be assessed through practical skills tests, multiple-choice and written tests, work observations, assignments, projects, and online assessments.
Progression opportunities
Successful completion of the Electrical Diploma will increase your employment opportunities in the electrical and maintenance industries. You will be qualified to start your own business or, if you want to increase your skills further, you could progress to the HNC in Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) at University Centre Weston.
Fees
This course is FREE if you are aged 19+, do not have a Level 3 qualification (A-Level equivalent), and currently live in the South West.

Entry Requirements
You’ll need a recognised Level 2 electrotechnical qualification such as the 2330 or 2365, the Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology or the EAL Intermediate Diploma in Electrical Installation.
