Machining, EAL Diploma
Get an insight into machining both manual and computer numerical controlled (CNC).
This course is taught at our fantastic South West Skills campus, which has state of the art engineering facilities, used by global organisations to discover and develop their future talent. You will get the chance to work on cutting edge machinery gaining both knowledge and competence towards a career as a machinist.
On this course will get the chance to learn about machining process and how to read drawings whilst working to industry standards using state of the art equipment in our modern facility.
We will teach you how to read drawings and manufacture components to industry standards, how to use different tooling and machinery, including using the lathes and mills.
You will gain an understand of the principles of CNC and how to fundamentally use the machines and produce complex components.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed via an exam, practical and/or theory assessments, and a final cross-unit synoptic assessment.
Next step
You can progress onto a Level 3 full-time course, an apprenticeship or into employment within a manufacturing organisation.
Fees
Your course may be FREE if you live in the South West of England (including the West of England Combined Authority) and:
- You are defined as being unemployed.
- You are employed, or self-employed, and earn less than £17,374.50 annual gross salary or less than £18,525.00 (West of England Combined Authority postcodes).
- If you are 19-23 (all postcodes) or 50+ (West of England Combined Authority postcodes only) and do not hold a full Level 2 qualification.
