Motor Vehicle, IMI Diploma
This course is taught at our fantastic South West Skills Campus, in our Automotive Training Centre which was originally a commercial garage and dealership – which makes it the perfect place for you to learn these skills.
This course runs three days a week - Tuesday and Thursday 18:00-21:00 and Saturday 9.30-16:30.
The Level 2 IMI Diploma Motor Vehicle Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair is a blend of both online and on-campus theory and practical delivery within 1 of our 3 industry standard workshops.
Throughout the course you will study modules on:
- Light Vehicle Maintenance
- Light Vehicle Engine Units
- Light Vehicle Lubrication and Cooling Systems
- Light Vehicle Fuel, Air and Exhaust Systems
- Light Vehicle Electrical Units
- Light Vehicle Chassis Units and Components
- Light Vehicle Transmission and Driveline Units
- Skills in Customer Service in the Automotive Industry
In addition you will also receive awareness and training on Hybrid Vehicle Technology.
Delivery of the qualification is supplemented by employer and industry engagement activities, guest speakers, industry related trips and visits to help broaden your perspective and understanding of the motor industry.
How will I be assessed?
You will take part in online exams and practical competency assessments for each unit of study.
Next steps
You can further your knowledge with a Level 3 course (which maybe free as part of the National Skills Fund), or look to gain an apprenticeship in motor vehicle.
Fees
Your course may be FREE if you live in the South West of England (including the West of England Combined Authority) and:
- You are defined as being unemployed.
- You are employed, or self-employed, and earn less than £17,374.50 annual gross salary or less than £18,525.00 (West of England Combined Authority postcodes).
- If you are 19-23 (all postcodes) or 50+ (West of England Combined Authority postcodes only) and do not hold a full Level 2 qualification.
