Physics, A Level
What will I do on this A Level?
You will study and learn about various aspects of matter and energy, with the theory content divided into six modules. Year one covers mechanics, electricity and waves. You will also be introduced to some new areas of physics including particle physics and quantum physics.
In the second year you’ll cover fields and further mechanics, nuclear physics, medical physics, astrophysics and thermal physics. You will develop your practical skills and problem-solving throughout the course. Alongside this course, it is mandatory to study maths.
How will I be assessed?
You will sit exams in your second year. You will also receive a pass or fail grade for skills developed in practical work.
What could I do after this A Level?
Physics is essential for degree courses in astronomy, computer technology, engineering, geophysics, meteorology and physics itself.
Five GCSEs at grade 4 and above, including English, and grade 6 or above in core & additional sciences and maths.
