Fibi
Previous School: Priory Community School
Course Studied: Level 3 Extended Diploma in Unformed Public Services
The public service course was definitely the right course for me as I like to be active. It included both practicals and theory, for example through the course I have participated in: coasteering, rock climbing, mountaineering, expeditions, abseiling and orienteering, as well as various other activities too. I have developed a wide range of practical skills and theoretical knowledge required in different public services like: the fire service, police force, the army and navy. Due to the confidence boost that the course has given me, I am now eager and prepared for my studies of criminology, with hopes in the future to meet the standards required within the police force.
I would say that my favourite thing about Weston College is the support that I was given by my tutors and mentors on the course. I managed to achieve a D*D*D* with the encouragement and positive environment that my mentors had provided me with. It was so beneficial to be surrounded with those that had experience and knowledge of roles within the public services, which is evident in their style of teaching. I simply couldn't thank them enough for the opportunities they have provided me with.
To those who are thinking of applying to Weston College, I would say go for it! It is a stepping stone to reach your desired profession in the future, giving you a wide range of opportunities with the help and support that the college offer.
Where are they now? Since finishing at Weston College, Fibi is now studying criminology and criminal justice at Swansea University, with hopes in the future to gain a role within the police force.
